Stain Tips

  • Cleaning Materials
    Krud Kutter Preferred Product-available at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Amazon.com
    Goof Off Cleaner
    Scrubbing Brush
    Liquid Dish Soap
    Wet the stained area and apply liquid dish soap.  Work the area using a scrubbing brush in a circular motion.  Rinse with water.  The stain may be lighter.  Wet the area again and apply Goof Off, use a scrubbing brush to work the area.  Rinse with water.  Allow the area to dry.  If stains remain, apply Krud Kutter and use a scrubbing brush to work the area.   Rinse with water.  Repeat as needed.

  • Cleaning Materials
    Dull Knife or Metal Spoon
    Carpet Cleaner Spot Shot or Oxiclean Based Cleaning Product Preferred
    Amodex Ink Stain Remover Optional

    Scrape off as much crayon as possible.  Use carpet cleaner per the manufacturer's direction.  Repeat as needed.

  • Cleaning Materials
    Rubbing Alcohol
    Liquid Dish Soap Preferred Dawn or Joy
    Cotton Balls
    Paper Towels
    Saturate a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and wipe over the stained area.  If stain persists, dampen a paper towel with warm water and apply liquid dish soap to wash the area.  Dry the board.  Repeat as needed.

    Paper Towels
    Scrubbing Brush
    Wet the stained area and apply liquid dish soap.  Work the area using a scrubbing brush in a circular motion.  Rinse with water.  The stain may be lighter.  Wet the area again and apply Kaboom cleaner, use a scrubbing brush to work the area, keeping it moist up to 30 minutes.  Rinse with water.  Allow the area to dry.  If stains remain, apply Goof Off and blot off with paper towels.  Rinse with water.  Repeat as needed.

    Scrape off as much crayon as possible.  Use upholstery cleaner per the manufacturer's direction.  Repeat as needed.

    Ice Cubes

    Scrape off as much oil pastel as possible.  Use ice cubes to chill the oil pastel making it easier to scrape away.  Saturate a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and blot the stained area.  If stain persists, rub liquid dish soap into the stain and wash as normal.  Repeat as needed.

    Dryer Drum:  Wipe the stained area with paper towels to remove as much oil pastel as possible.  Use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser per the manufacturer's direction.  Clean, dry rags can be placed in the dryer and ran through a cycle to remove any remaining stain.  Repeat as needed.

    Spray the stained area with All Purpose cleaner and wipe the paper towel.  If stain persists, dampen a sponge with warm water and liquid dish soap to work the area in a circular motion, rinse with water.  Repeat as needed.

    Spray the stained area with All Purpose cleaner and wipe with paper towels.  If stain persists, dampen a sponge with warm water and liquid dish soap to work the area in a circular motion.  Rinse with water.  Repeat as needed.

    Wash with water. On unfinished marble, pastels will leave a residual stain.

    409 Cleaner
    ONLY Black, Blue, Golden Brown, Gray, Medium Brown, Red, Slate Gray, True Blue and White can be removed with 409 cleaner. ALL OTHER colours cannot be removed with any other cleaning agent.

    All colours can be removed with water with the EXCEPTION of Blue Green, Blue Violet, Cerulean and Red Violet which need to be removed with Comet AND Black, Green, Pink, Red, Rust and Violet cannot be removed with any cleaning agent.

    Paper Towels
    Gently scrape with a dull knife and lot with a paper towel, removing as much oil pastel as possible.  Be careful not to cause additional damage to the fabric.  Consult a professional dry cleaner.
